Now let me tell you how it all has begun…

The idea came to life after Stainlexz wanted to make the Volume 2 of his “Beats aus dem Pott” project. BADP Vol.1 was launched in 2016 and was a compilation of several beatmakers, all from germany. But this time the idea was to release it on a real physical tape. Of course he contacted his Label – POSTPARTUM. Together, Mario and Stainlexz decided that the name for this compilation should be changed. Especially because a lot of international beatmakers would take part. The name “Beatmaniacs”, which was already created in 2014 by Stainlexz and The Major, should be the right one.

The search for beatmakers started. Of course there would be some from the BADP Vol.1 but there should be a lot more, because this time every beatmaker could deliver only one beat and the length of the tape should be about 70 minutes. It was a long search.
“I digged as deep as I could to find good producers for the tape. Of course I asked friends and just wrote to beatmakers I even did not know. And I must say most of them were very polite and were down for this project”, Stainlexz says.

A real project management mindset was necessary, because to manage and remeber who you already wrote and who already send a beat was not easy. Parallel to that a cover artwork was needed. For a real tape and the first milestone it should be not “like an amateur”. This is where Hydrogenii steped into the whole project. Of course he was invited before as a beatmaker but later his skills as a designer were very useful. As he was creating the beatmaniacs logo, which is awesome by the way, Stainlexz was searching for a good cover picture.

This is where Chasbeats steped in. The connection to him came off Funkonami who was introduced to Stainlexz through Mario, the Labelboss. Mario said: “Hey, you are looking for beatmakers for your project and Funkonami asked me if we are planning to do a new compilation, so I told him to contact you”. This is how I virtually met the greek beatmaker. He send a great beat named “Come together” and some time later it should be the title track.
“As Funkonami introduced me to Chasbeats, I noticed that he also makes great pictures”, Stainlexz says. After cheking out his instagram profile it was clear: Chasbeats should supply the cover picture. As we finally found the right one, Hydrogenii started creating the Cover Artwork and he delivered! What a beauty.

Parallel to that, Stainlexz finished collecting beats and started to put them in the right order. For a great tape – a big challenge. But somehow the beats just put themselves in the right order so the final mastering could be done. “The beats were very different from the point of how they sounded. And I am not a mastering expert, but I knew that there would be big differencies in the quality of the sound, depends on the mixing skills and experience of the beatmakers. Some of the beats I did not treat at all, for example the beat from Steril One, because I know he is doing mastering professionally. Some of the beats just needed a bit of processing and some beats I had to fight with to make them sound good and equal to the rest of the tape.

After delivering the masterfiles to the Label, it took a couple of weeks to record all the tapes on a REVOX B215 Tapedeck. “Finally, as we were holding the tapes in our hands, we realized what a great job all of us did and how beatiful the tape is”. It has a length of about 70 minutes with beats from 23 beatmakers from 8 countries.
